A Stone Throwing Robot (SRT) which is an essential component of Artificial Intelligence (AI) system to autonomously play the curling sport was developed. The information of required control performance for driving (target velocity, heading angle) was delivered to the SRT from the AI system.
The high precision driving control is required for the SRT to accomplish the task from the AI server;
1) The SRT should attain maximum velocity of 3.50m/s within a limited distance of 10m
2) the heading angle should be strictly maintained during the driving
3) The SRT should not slip on the ice.
The SRT can throw the stone satisfying the requirements with a velocity resolution of 0.01m/s and with a heading angle resolution of 0.01 degree.
In the near future, a sweeping robot with precision movement will also be developed.
